ColdFusion MX/JRun 4.0: Hot fix available for JRun4 Updater 6, IIS 6.0 redirect response truncation

Issue

Page redirects cause truncated response output with JRun 4 Updater 6 and the IIS 6.0 connector. This problem began in Updater 6 and affects both JRun (page redirects) and ColdFusion MX (usingcflocation if JRun4 Updater 6 is used in the underlying server).

Note: ColdFusion MX 7.0 and 7.0.1 (Server or Multiserver editions) use JRun 4 Updater 4 and 5 respectively as installed.

ColdFusion MX 6.1 J2EE - JRun
ColdFusion MX 7.0, 7.0.1 MultiServer edition
JRun 4.0

ColdFusion MX editions listed above are only affected if the underlying JRun server has been upgraded to Updater 6.

This is logged as Macromedia issue 61210.

Solution

This TechNote provides a new web server configuration file (wsconfig.jar) to replace the IIS 6.0 connector components (jrun_iis6_wildcard.dll, jrun_iis6.dll).

Installation instructions

ColdFusion MX/JRun 4

Backup the existing {jrun_root}/lib/wsconfig.jar to wsconfig.jar.bu.
Download the hot fix (2.2MB).
Stop all ColdFusion MX servers and IIS 6.0 (WWW Publishing Services) and the Windows Management Instrumentation service to unlock the IIS6 connector.

Note: This step is important for ISPs. With IIS 6.0 running, the connector installer shuts down and restarts each site during the upgrade, causing the upgrade to take much longer.

Navigate to the /jrun4/lib directory and run the connector upgrade:

 cd {jrun_root}/lib java -Dtrace.ci=1 -jar wsconfig.jar -upgrade -v

Make sure the upgrade completed successfully.
- Inspect {jrun_root}/lib/wsconfig/wsconfig.log for errors
- Check the version tab of {jrun_root}/lib/wsconfig/N/jrun_iis6_wildcard.dll. The "Product Version" item name field should indicate 4,0,6,106505 (the old connector version is 106363)
  
  Another way to check the version is to query the wsconfig.jar directly as shown below:
