ColdFusion MX: Unable to retrieve mail settings
Issue
The following message appears when trying to access the Mail settings in the ColdFusion MX Administrator:
Unable to retrieve mail settings. The selected method getServer was not found. Either there are no methods with the specified method name and argument types, or the method getServer is overloaded with arguments types that ColdFusion can't decipher reliably. If this is a Java object and you verified that the method exists, you may need to use the javacast function to reduce ambiguity.
Reason
The main reason this error occurs is that the neo-mail.xml file has either been corrupted or is zero (0) bytes.
Solution
Restore the neo-mail.xml from a backup copy of the file, neo-mail.bak. The neo-mail.xml file is located in the following locations:
- For the server install: cf_root/lib
- For J2EE or multiserver install on JRun:jrun_root/servers/[server name]/cfusion-ear/cfusion-war/WEB-INF/cfusion/lib
