Macintosh Xtras from Windows version of Director MX 2004

The Macintosh Director Xtras that are available in the Windows version of Director MX 2004 are separated into data and resource files. These files are used when creating a Macintosh projector with Xtras packaged inside the projector. These files are located in the Director application directory, under the subfolder Configuration\Cross Platform Resources\Macintosh\Xtras.

Aside from packaging the Xtras inside of the projector itself, Director projectors can be created so that the Xtras reside in an external folder called œXtras. However, the Macintosh Xtras that should be placed in this Xtras folder are different from the separated resource and data fork Xtra files provided by the Windows version of Director. The Xtras that should be placed in this folder should be the original Macintosh Director Xtras.

If you have a Macintosh version of Director, you can copy its Xtras to your projector Xtras folder. If you dont have the Macintosh version, you can obtain the Macintosh Xtras using one of the following methods:

  • Install the Shockwave Player on a Macintosh machine, then copy the Shockwave Player Xtras to the Xtras folder of the projector. These Xtras are usually located at the following directory: Library: Application Support: Macromedia: Shockwave 10: Xtras.
  • Download and install the trial version of the Macintosh version of Director. Copy the Xtras from the Director application folder, under the Configuration\Xtras folder, and place them in the Xtras folder of the projector.
