JRun 4: Disabling JSP processing on iPlanet/SunOne
Issue
After configuring the web server connector for JRun 4, the iPlanet/SunOne web server may continue processing JSP pages.
Reason
By default, iPlanet/SunOne installs with it's own Java engine enabled, which could intercept and process JSP pages before they are sent to JRun for processing. You may see the following "Not Found" error when trying to request JSP pages within an alternative JRun document root when this happens:
Not Found The requested object does not exist on this server. The link you followed is either outdated, inaccurate, or the server has been instructed not to let you have it. Please inform the site administrator of the referring page.
Solution
Use the following steps to disable the iPlanet/SunOne web server Java engine:
- Open the web server Administration console.
- Select the server you wish to modify.
- Click the Manage button.
- On the Java tab, uncheck the box that reads "Enable Java for class vsclass1".
- Click OK.
- Ensure that you apply the settings by restarting the services for that server.
