CSS pop-up menus are not supported in Internet Explorer 5 on Macintosh

Issue

When CSS is used in Fireworks 8 for the appearance of pop-up menus, the parent menu's text is visible thru the submenu's background when previewed or viewed in Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.2 on Mac OS X.

Reason

Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) standards are not fully supported by all browsers. Older browsers especially may support only some of the CSS standards, if they support any at all. Apple develops its own browser called Safari, which supports current standards.

Solution

If it is necessary to build pop-up menus that display properly in Internet Explorer 5.2 on a Macintosh (or another older browser), create the pop-up menu using either HTML or images for the appearance, and disable the CSS option.

  1. Choose File> HTML Setup.
  2. In the General tab, uncheck the option Use CSS For Popup Menus.
  3. Click OK.

Now when you export, the page will not use CSS for the pop-up menus.
