Title

Photoshop CS5 crashes or hangs | Type toolProducts affected

Issue

Photoshop CS5 crashes or hangs when it encounters a damaged font or when the font cache has been damaged. It isn't always apparent that a damaged font is the cause of the crash.

Solutions

Solution 1: Disable or remove any of the above fonts in Font Book (Mac OS).

  1. Choose Applications > Font Book.
  2. Choose All Fonts in the Collection column.
  3. Select one of the fonts listed above in the Font list.
  • In Mac OS 10.5.2, Ctrl-click the font and choose to Disable that font family.
  • In Mac OS 10.6.2, Ctrl-click the font and choose to Remove that font family.

Solution 2: Validate your fonts to determine which other fonts could be causing the problem (Mac OS).

See Troubleshoot fonts | Photoshop CS5 (cpsid_84363), Solution 2

Solution 3: Determine if a damaged font or font cache is causing the crash (Mac OS).

See Troubleshoot fonts | Photoshop CS5 (cpsid_84363), Solution 4
