Photoshop CS5 crashes or hangs | Type toolProducts affected
Issue
Photoshop CS5 crashes or hangs when it encounters a damaged font or when the font cache has been damaged. It isn't always apparent that a damaged font is the cause of the crash.
Solutions
Solution 1: Disable or remove any of the above fonts in Font Book (Mac OS).
- Choose Applications > Font Book.
- Choose All Fonts in the Collection column.
- Select one of the fonts listed above in the Font list.
- In Mac OS 10.5.2, Ctrl-click the font and choose to Disable that font family.
- In Mac OS 10.6.2, Ctrl-click the font and choose to Remove that font family.
Solution 2: Validate your fonts to determine which other fonts could be causing the problem (Mac OS).
See Troubleshoot fonts | Photoshop CS5 (cpsid_84363), Solution 2
