Contribute is unable to browse to the Internet
Issue
Macromedia Contribute is unable to browse to the Internet.
Reason
There are two possible reasons for this trouble:
- Computer running Contribute has no Internet connection.
- Computer running Contribute also uses a firewall application, which is blocking Internet access from Contribute.
Solution
Test other browsers (Internet Explorer for Windows, Safari for Macintosh) to see if you can browse to the Internet.
- If other browsers fail, troubleshoot your Internet connection.
- If other browsers are able to browse to the Internet, look for firewall applications running in the background.
- If a security alert appears, choose 'unblock' or allow Contribute to use Internet resources. For more information, refer to Windows Firewall blocks certain products after installing Windows XP SP 2 (TechNote tn_19489).
- If no security alerts are appearing, manually look for firewall applications and look for settings that block access to programs/applications. Some anti-virus programs have built-in firewall that includes this feature. Look for Macromedia Contribute and choose an option to unblock it or allow Internet access.
