Updater Information
What's included in the ColdFusion MX 7 Updater 2?

ColdFusion MX 7 Updater 2 provides developers easy integration between ColdFusion and Flex 2 applications, and also includes important fixes.

With this new version/updater, developers have easy access to ColdFusion application logic from within Flex. Included features are:

  • A new version of Flash Remoting - enabling CFC functions to be called directly from a Flex 2 application to provide simple access to all of the back-end services available from ColdFusion-database access, web services, POP/SMTP, file systems and more, using the new AMF3 binary protocol. Also included is built-in support for data type marshalling, CFC and ActionSscript Value Objects, security, ColdFusion debugging and more.
  • Flex Messaging Gateway - A new ColdFusion Event Gateway type that can be used within a Flex application to specify a ColdFusion event gateway as a destination for messages; similarly, a ColdFusion application can use an Event Gateway to push messages out to Flex applications as well as let CFC's receive messages as a peer in Flex application publish-subscribe topics. ColdFusion simply provides the easiest way to create a publish-subscribe messaging application using Flex.
  • Flex Data Services Adapter - enabling the use of Flex Data Management Services with ColdFusion components (CFCs).

Full details on these and other enhancements/fixes are available in the Updater Release Notes.

What are the ColdFusion Extensions for Flex Builder 2?

The ColdFusion Extensions for Flex Builder 2 are a set of ColdFusion-specific productivity extensions for Flex Builder 2, shipped for free with Flex Builder 2.

Included are a collection of powerful wizards that automatically generate code and applications, a Remote Development Services (RDS) module, a Services Browser for web services and CFC introspection, and more.
