Error: Could not find FlashPaper Printer

Issue

---

When trying to convert a document using Macromedia FlashPaper, or when opening the FlashPaper application, the following error appears:

"Could not find the FlashPaper Printer. Please reinstall FlashPaper Printer. FlashPaper Printer will now close"

Reason

---

This error occurs when the FlashPaper printer is missing, or if there was an issue with the FlashPaper installation.

Solution

In order to fix this issue, download and run the patch installer.

Note: You must first run the FlashPaper installer before running the patch. The FlashPaper installer will install the FlashPaper application. The patch installer only installs the FlashPaper printer driver.

If the error still appears after running the patch, follow the directions below to manually install the driver:

1. From the Windows toolbar, chooseStart > Settings > Printers and Faxes.
2. Double-click Add Printer.
3. Click Next.
4. Choose theLocal printer option, then click Next.
5. Choose a printer port that is not already assigned, then click Next.
6. Click Have Disk.
7. Click Browse.
8. Browse to FlashPaper 2 Product folder and choose the file named "fp.inf".
9. Click Next.
10. Choose Replace Existing Driver.
11. In the Printer name field, put a space between the words Flash and Paper.
12. Choose "No" for default printer.
13. Choose Do not share printer.
14. Click No for printing a test page.
15. Click Finish.
16. A warning dialogue will appear saying that this installer has not passed Windows Logo testing. Click Continue Anyway.
17. Test FlashPaper to see if it is working. If you continue to get the error, contact Technical Support.
