Unable to save PowerPoint after importing a SWF

Issue


Once you have imported a Flash 6 SWF into PowerPoint using the Breeze menu, you may be unable to save the PowerPoint file.

Reason


This issue can occur if the Flash Debug Player is installed on the system.

Solution


Remove the Flash Debug Player from the system by downloading the uninstallers below:

Flash Debug Player for Windows

Flash Debug Player for Macintosh

To manually remove the Flash Debug Player from the system, follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to Start > Run.
  2. Type cmd then click OK.
  3. Navigate to C:\windows\system32\Macromed\Flash using the DOS command line:

    cd \windows\system32\macromed\flash
  4. Type the following:

    regsrv32 -u flash.ocx

    then hit Enter.
  5. Open a browser and download/install the latest Flash Player on the Macromedia website.

Note: Macintosh users will have to use the uninstaller.
