Using Contribute with a website that has both secure and non-secure pages (http/https)
Issue
After creating a connection to a website (using the Connection Wizard) with a homepage URL that looks like http://www.mysite.com, browsing to a secure page like https://mysite.com will bring up this error message:
"You are viewing a page on a website that you haven't created a connection to."
Solution
This issue is easily resolved by adding an alternate address for https://mysite.com in the Web Address tab while administering the site.
To specify an alternate web address for a website:
- Select Edit > Administer Websites (Windows) or Contribute> Administer Websites (Macintosh), and select the website you want to administer from the submenu.
- If prompted, enter the Administrator password, and click OK. The Administer Website dialog box appears.
- Select the Web Server category on the left side of the dialog box, and click the Web Address tab. The Web Address panel appears.
- Click the Add button. The Add or Edit Alternate Address dialog box appears.
- Enter an alternate URL and click OK. The new URL appears in the Alternate addresses list.
- When you have entered all the alternate web addresses, click Close to exit the Administer Website dialog box and save your changes, or select another category to modify.
