ColdFusion 9 Standard serial numbers fail | 64-bit LinuxProducts affected
Issue
When you install ColdFusion 9 Standard on a 64-bit Linux operating system, the installer does not accept the serial number.
When you enter the number into the installer, the following occur:
- You see the message "The serial number that you entered is invalid."
- A red cross appears next to the Serial Number text field.
The installer does not let you proceed.
Solution
To enable your ColdFusion 9 Standard installation to continue, do the following:
- Remove the serial number from the Serial Number text box in the installer interface.
- Select one of the following options to continue the installation process:
- 30-day trial
- Developer Edition
- When the installation has finished, log in to the ColdFusion Administrator.
- Click the System Information link (upper left of screen).
- Enter your Serial Key in the New License text box.
- Click one of the Submit Changes buttons to the right of the form.
- A message indicating successful update displays: "The server was successfully updated."
To confirm that the key was entered correctly, choose System Information > Edition information in the table just below the New License update form. The value is now Standard.
Additional information
This solution also applies when you install in console mode and receive the "The serial number that you entered is invalid" error message.
Install ColdFusion 9 Standard in either Developer or Trial mode. Then enter the serial number through the System Information page of the ColdFusion Administrator.
