Title

Slow performance and broken links in RoboHelp 8Products affected

Issue

When you open a project in RoboHelp 8, you encounter the following issues:

  • The CPD file grows in size, slowing performance.
  • The cursor flickers in some cases.
  • Deleting the CPD file sometimes causes the Project Manager to report broken links.

Solution

Follow these steps to resolve the issue:

  1. Download and install Patch 8.0.2 from Adobe .com. The patch prevents the issues listed above from recurring in the future. However, the patch does not repair the damage already done to your project. Repair the project manually by performing the following steps. Take these steps only after you install the 8.0.2 patch and create a backup of your project.
  2. Open the project using the XPJ file and check whether the Project Manager reports any broken links. If so, right-click each broken link in the Project Manager and select Restore.
  3. Select Tools > Reports > Unused Files and ensure that none of your topics is listed there. If so, reimport them.
  4. Close the project and create another backup.
  5. Delete the CPD file from the Projects folder and reopen the project using the XPJ file.
  6. Ensure that there are no broken links and no topics in Tools > Reports > Unused Files.

Additional information

Apply Service Release 8.0.2  to all the machines you use. After you open a RoboHelp project on a machine with Service Release 8.0.2, do not open it on an unpatched machine. If you attempt to open a Robohelp 8.0.2 project on an unpatched machine, you see a warning that the project is from a newer version. Do not delete the CPD file and then open the project on the unpatched machine.
