Follow these instructions to silently install Adobe Premiere Elements 8 on Windows with an Adobe volume license (AVL).
PREPARING FOR A SILENT INSTALLATION
Some of these procedures require you to locate hidden files and hidden folders or to locate files by their full filenames, including extensions (for example, sample_filename.ini). By default, Windows Explorer does not show hidden files, hidden folders, and filename extensions that it recognizes.

SILENT INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS
- Copy the Adobe Premiere Elements folder from the Adobe Premiere Elements 8 installation DVD to your hard drive.
- Create an "application.xml.override" file:
- Open Notepad.
- Paste the following code into it:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <Configuration> <Payload> <Data key="EULADelay">0</Data> <Data key="Registration">Suppress</Data> <Data key="Updates">Suppress</Data> </Payload> </Configuration> - Choose File > Save.
- From the Save As Type menu, choose All Files.
- From the Encoding menu, choose UTF-8.
- Type "application.xml.override" in the Filename box.
- Save the file in the Adobe Premiere Elements folder copied in Task 1.
- [Optional] Open the Abcpy.ini file from the Adobe Premiere Elements folder copied in Task 1 in Notepad. The
INSTALLTEMPLATESoption is used to install the additional Movie themes, DVD, and Title templates with the Premiere Elements installer. When its value is 1 (INSTALLTEMPLATES=1), these elements are added.- Copy the Adobe Premiere Elements Templates folder from the Adobe Premiere Elements 8 Content installation DVD into the Adobe Premiere Elements folder copied in Step 1.
- Rename the Adobe Premiere Elements Templates folder 'Templates'.
Enter a value of 0 (INSTALLTEMPLATES=0) to prevent the additional Movie themes, DVD, and Title templates from being installed with the Adobe Premiere Elements installer.
Note: If the 'Templates' folder is not present in the Adobe Premiere Elements folder copied in Step 1, you must enter a value of 0.
DISABLEEMSFEATURES=0
The DISABLEEMSFEATURES option is used to disable the Photoshop.com membership features. Enter a value of 1 (DISABLEEMSFEATURES=1) to turn off the Photoshop.com membership features.
DISABLEOLSFEATURES=0 The DISABLEOLSFEATURES option is used to disable the retail online services and to display available educational online services. Enter a value of 1 (DISABLEOLSFEATURES=1) to disable retail online services and to display available educational online services.
Save the Abcpy.ini file and close Notepad.
- To start the installation, open the Windows Command Prompt utility and enter the following line with the appropriate modifications:
<Path to OEM.exe> /UL#### /V"SERIALNUMBER=<AOO-volume-license-serial-number>"Replace <Path to OEM.exe> with the location of the OEM.exe in the Adobe Premiere Elements folder copied from installation DVD in Step 1.
Replace the #### symbols with the appropriate four-digit language code:
Brazilian Portuguese= 1046
Chinese Simplified= 2052
Dutch= 1043
English= 1033
French= 1036
German= 1031
Italian= 1040
Japanese= 1041
Spanish= 1034
Swedish= 1053
Replace <AOO-volume-license-serial-number> with your 24-digit volume license serial number.
Note: Be sure to include the dashes in the serial number.
Note: On Windows 7/Vista, a User Access Control (UAC) prompt sometimes appears when the installer starts, if UAC is enabled. To prevent the User Access Control prompt, disable UAC.
VERIFYING A SILENT INSTALLATION
To verify the installation during the installation process:
- Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete to open the Task Manager.
- Click the Processes tab. Observe that the OEM.exe is still listed (even if CPU usage is at 0) and that msiexec processes are running.
- The installation has finished once the OEM.exe process disappears from the list.
To verify the installation after the installation process finishes:
Verify that the following folders were added:
- C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Elements 8.0
- C:\Program Files\Adobe\Elements Organizer 8.0
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- The EULADelay Data key is required for every silent installation.
- The Registration Data key is optional. If you use it, the registration dialog does not appear when Adobe Premiere Elements is started and the Help > Registration option is dimmed or disabled.
- The Updates Data key is optional. If you use it, Adobe Premiere Elements does not check for updates and the Help > Updates option does not appear.
