Disable Access Points to Acrobat.com Services in Windows Network Deployments

Administrators can disable the access points to Acrobat.com for network deployments of Acrobat 9 and Adobe Reader 9 using the Adobe Customization Wizard 9. The Adobe Customization Wizard 9 is a free, downloadable utility that allows you to customize the Acrobat installer and application features before enterprise-wide deployments. If your application is not yet installed, you can customize the main product installer and then apply the patch in a second transaction. Or you can customize the product installer and apply the patch in a single transaction. Find the Customization Wizard at www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp

Follow the instructions in the Customization Wizard Help to create a project. Once a project is created, you can disable access points to Acrobat.com services in the following ways:

  • Disable initiation and participation
  • Disable initiation of Acrobat.com features only
  • Selectively disable services

Disable Initiation and Participation

Note: Disabling access through this option prevents access to all Acrobat.com services and also prevents participation in Shared Reviews and live collaboration initiated by others. To allow Shared Review workflows enabled through other sharing mechanisms, like a shared network drive or Sharepoint server, skip this option and choose either of the other two.

To disable access through this option:

  1. Choose "Online and Acrobat.com Features" from the navigation bar.
  2. Select the "Disable all Acrobat.com access, including initiation and participation" in the Acrobat.com Features area.

The following table describes the result of this option.

Note: This description supersedes the Customization Wizard Help.
