Initialization failure after failed migration
Issue
Attempts to migrate from Flash Media Rights Management Server 1.0/LiveCycle ES 8.0.1 to Flash Media Rights Management Server 1.5/LiveCycle ES 8.2 fail. Initialization failures with stack traces similar to the following are thrown when trying to restart the original 8.0.1 install:
19:39:47,651 ERROR [LogInterceptor] EJBException in method: public abstract com.adobe.edc.server.businessobject.SyncRequestBO com.adobe.edc.server.businesslogic.license.LicenseManager.getOptimizedSyncRequestBO(com.adobe.edc.server.businessobject.EDCContext) throws com.adobe.edc.server.errors.exception.EDCServerSystemException:com.adobe.idp.common.errors.exception.IDPSystemException: nullorigin: | [com.adobe.idp.storeprovider.jdbc.DBStoreFactory] errorCode:12290 errorCodeHEX:0x3002 message:initialization failure| [com.adobe.idp.storeprovider.jdbc.DBStoreFactory] errorCode:12290 errorCodeHEX:0x3002 message:no setup for com.adobe.edc.server.spi.storage.entity.AuditEntity
Reason
The 8.2 configuration manager utility was pointed to the live database and changed the objects during the migration attempt. These configuration manager changes brought the database objects and the policies in the global document storage directory (GDS) out of synch. When the 8.0.1 server is restarted it could not support the new object schema.
Solution
When doing a migration, first back up the database schema and the GDS, then use the backups for the migration. Take the backup during a period of shutdown to ensure that the database and GDS objects remain in synch.
