FLVs cannot be created on Mac OS X 10.4.x [Tiger] with Flash MX 2004 and QuickTime 7
Issue
Flash Video (FLV) files created with the Library's Export option in Macromedia Flash MX 2004 on Macintosh fail to play properly
Possible issues that might be encountered after creating the FLV are:
- Audio does not sync with the actual video
- Empty video or video skips even after the flv was cached
- FLV has no content
Reason
Macintosh OS X 10.4 (Tiger) includes QuickTime 7. Flash MX 2004 is not compatible with QuickTime 7 Professional.
Solution
There are two options to resolve this issue.
- For Flash MX 2004 users who need to create FLVs, downgrade from QuickTime 7 to QuickTime 6.
- Upgrade to Flash 8 and use the Flash 8 Video Encoder to create FLV. Flash 8 Video Encoder supports QuickTime 7 Professional.
