Installing the Flash Lite player and content onto a handset
Installing the Flash Lite player onto a handset
Once the Flash Lite player is downloaded using the IMEI number from the handset, you will need to transfer the installer file to the handset to run it. This will be a SIS file with the IMEI number of the phone in the filename (for example, flash-354330098921145.sis). Transfer the installer file to the device using one of the following methods:
- IR (infrared): If your PC and handset both support infrared, you can connect the device with the PC and transfer the file via IR.
- Bluetooth: If your PC and handset both support Bluetooth, you can connent the device with the PC and transfer the file via Bluetooth.
- Memory card: Using a memory card reader, you can transfer the file to the memory card for the phone.
- USB: Most phone manufacturers supply a USB cable for syncronizing the handset with a PC and transferring files.
Note: The exact steps to transfer the installer using any of the methods above may vary slightly from handset to handset. Please consult the manufacturer's documentation on the handset for exact instructions.
Once the file is transferred to the handset, browse to the file using the file manager on the handset and open the file. When you see the message that installation is complete, Flash Lite should be installed and listed with the other applications on the handset.
Installing Flash Lite content onto a handset
Flash Lite content can be installed onto the handset by copying the SWF file(s) that make up the content to the handset using any of the methods listed above. When copying SWF files to view on the handset, it is important to remember to install the SWF file(s) into the correct folder on the device. The Flash Lite player will only recognize SWF files that are located in the following folders or subfolders within them.
Series 60 handsets
- [phone mem]/Documents/Flash
- [mem card]/Documents/Flash
UIQ handsets
- [phone mem]/External “ MSSEMC\P-Series\media files\document
- [mem card]/External “ Internal\Document
Once the SWF content is copied to one of the folders listed above, open Flash Lite from the application list, and find the SWF file to view and select it. Flash Lite will open the SWF file for viewing.
