Why Is the Flash Player Movie Displaying As a Small Area in a Large Box in the Browser?

If a Flash Player movie appears very small when you open it in your browser, and there is a lot of blank area around it, you need to set your document size before you export the Flash document to a Flash Player movie or image.

To set the document size to match the animation area of your movie:

  1. Move the entire animation to the upper left corner of your document window. See How Do I Move the Entire Animation at Once? (TechNote 4106)
  2. Choose Modify > Movie. Note: Flash 1 and Future Splash Animator users choose Format > Document.
  3. Click the Match Contents button and click OK. This matches the bottom and right margins with the top and left margins.
