What types of fonts can be used with Flash?

On Windows 95/98/2000/NT/Me, TrueType fonts are recommended for use with Flash. PostScript Type 1 fonts can be used if Adobe Type Manager (ATM) is installed and enabled.

Note: ATM 4.0 or earlier may cause Flash to crash. This conflict has been resolved with ATM 4.1. To resolve any crashing problems either disable ATM or upgrade to version 4.1 or later.

On Macintosh, PostScript fonts can be used as long as Adobe Type Manager (ATM) is installed and enabled. Printer fonts should be placed in the Fonts folder in the System Folder. TrueType fonts are best, however, because they work without additional software installed in the system.

A good way to tell whether or not a font will export properly is to choose View > Antialias Text while in the Flash editor. If the text remains jagged, then the Flash Player does not recognize that font's outline and will not export the text properly.
