Multiserver option not available during ColdFusion 8 Enterprise install
Issue
The option to select Multiserver Configuration is disabled during an Adobe ColdFusion 8x Enterprise installation.
Reason
This issue may occur for one of the following reasons:
- There is an existing installation of ColdFusion MX7 or ColdFusion 8 multiserver (you have a /jrun4 directory on the machine).
- Your system has some lingering ColdFusion or JRun Windows Registry keys even after you successfully uninstalled of a previous version of ColdFusion or JRun. This could occur if you tried to apply the 8.0.1 updater but forgot to stop all instances of ColdFusion/JRun before hand.
Solution
Manually delete leftover folders and registry keys.
- Delete any folders on the hard drive named "jrun4".
- Choose Start > Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
- In the Registry Editor, create a backup of your current registry by choosing File > Export, entering a file name, and then click ling Save.
- Search for any ColdFusion keys by choosing Edit > Find, entering ColdFusion in the Find What box, and then clicking Find Next.
- Delete leftover or unnecessary keys by pressing Delete, and then press F3 to go to the next search result.
- Repeat steps 4 and 5 using JRun as your search string.
- When finished, close Registry Editor and reboot the server.
- Re-run the ColdFusion 8 Enterprise installer. You should now be able to select the Multiserver configuration option
