OpenGL features of CS4 applications are missing on systems with Nvidia graphics adapters (Windows)
Issue
When you attempt to use an Adobe application that takes advantage of OpenGL features on your Nvidia-based graphics accelerator hardware, the application behaves as though OpenGL support is not present.
Adobe applications that are affected include:
- Adobe Photoshop CS4
- Adobe After Effects CS3 and CS4
- Adobe Premiere ProCS4
- Adobe Encore CS4
- Adobe Soundbooth CS4
- Adobe Bridge CS4
Reason
Nvidia driver version 182.08 has an incompatibility which results in the graphics chipset improperly reporting its OpenGL capabilities to the Adobe application. When the requested OpenGL version is not detected, the Adobe application falls back to the default behavior for a graphics card without OpenGL support. This issue affects all Nvidia graphics hardware.
Solution
Adobe and Nvidia are aware of the issue and are investigating solutions. This document will be updated as new information becomes available.
Do one of the following solutions:
Solution 1: Roll back to a previous version of the Nvidia driver.
Solution 2: Reinstall Nvidia driver 182.02.
- Uninstall driver version 182.02 completely from Device Manager.
- Restart the computer in VGA mode.
- Reinstall driver version 182.02.
