After Effects CS4 crashes on quit (Mac)
Issue
When you quit Adobe After Effects CS4, the application crashes.
Reason
You have installed a script that presents a UI panel, and that panel is docked.
Note: There is a known issue in Adobe After Effects CS4 that causes a crash on quit when script panels are docked. The After Effects team is aware of the issue and working toward a solution.
Solution
Solution 1: Update to After Effects 9.0.2.
Solution 2: Quit After Effects from a workspace that does not include script UI panels.
- Create a workspace that does not include any script UI panels. For more information on saving a custom workspace, see Save, reset or delete workspaces in After Effects Help.
- Switch to the workspace before you quit After Effects.
Solution 3: Undock or close the script-generated UI panel.
Note: The problem is initiated when the program launches, so After Effects will still crash the first time you quit after you have performed this solution. However, subsequent launches will no longer crash on quit.
Additional Information
No data is lost as a result of this crash. The crash occurs after all data has been saved.
