Missing web compiler in LCDS 2.6.x limits Flex Builder support for J2EE projects (Flex Builder)Products affected

Issue

Adobe LiveCycle Data Services (LCDS) 2.6.x does not include a web tier compiler, which limits Adobe Flex Builder 3 support for J2EE projects that use LCDS. These limitations include the following issues:

  1. Flex Builder 3 functionality using a J2EE project that uses LCDS and compiles on the server does not work.
  2. When setting up Flex Builder 3 projects, the "use the server's SDK" does not work with LiveCycle Data Services 2.6 or 2.6.1.

Reason

Solution

For issue 1 described above, there is currently no workaround. Flex Builder 3 projects do not support the server compile option with LiveCycle Data Services 2.6 or 2.6.1. You must use tool compile instead of server compile.

For issue 2 described above, you can complete the steps below to add the Adobe Flex SDK that shipped with LiveCycle Data Services 2.6 or 2.6.1 to Flex Builder 3.

To add the Adobe Flex SDK to Flex Builder 3:

  1. Expand the Flex SDK zip that shipped with LiveCycle Data Services 2.6 or 2.6.1.
  2. Create a Flex Project with LCDS 2.6/2.6.1 using the tool compile option.
  3. Open the Flex Builder 3 project properties dialog box, select Flex Compilers, and click Configure Flex SDK.
  4. Click Add, choose the expanded Flex SDK folder, and then click OK.
  5. In the Flex Compiler project property dialog box that is still open, click Use a Specific SDK, choose the new Flex SDK from the list, and then click OK.
