Unable to see or select items in a dropdown list that extends past the end of page (Acrobat 8.x and Reader 8.x)

Issue

You cannot click on items from a drop-down list in an XFA style form (a form created by LivecycleDesigner) if the list of items extends past the end of the page. You cannot click any of the items that are below the end of the page.

Reason

This is a known limitation of Acrobat8.xand Reader 8.x The issue has been fixed for Acrobat 9and Reader 9

Solution

Solution 1: Select the lower items in the list using the keyboard.

Click on the list to open it, and use the up and down arrow keysto scroll through the list until you reach the selection that you want.

Solution 2: Designers should place the drop-down box near the top of the page.

If you are designing a new form,then place the dropdown box near the top of the page.Then itwill not extend past the bottom of the page when opened and you will avoid this issue entirely.
