Using the proper Workspace ES source code for patched versions of LiveCycle ES

Issue

For patched versions of LiveCycle ES, when you customize LiveCycle Workspace ES, the customized version of Workspace ES does not include the fixes provided by the patch.

Reason

Patches do not update the LiveCycle_ES_SDK folder (adobe-workspace-src.zip) file in the LiveCycle ES SDK folder. The adobe-workspace-src.zip file is typically found at [installdir]/Adobe/LiveCycle82/LiveCycle_ES_SDK/misc/Process_Management/Workspace folder where [installdir] is the folder where you installed LiveCycle ES.

Solution

When you customize LiveCycle Workspace ES, you must use the latest version of the Workspace ES source code (adobe-workspace-src.zip). If you do not, when you deploy your Workspace ES customizations to the server, fixes for Workspace ES provided by quick fixes or hot fixes are not included. For LiveCycle ES Service Pack releases, the latest version of the Workspace ES source code is updated in the LiveCycle ES SDK folder on your server. For example, in a Turnkey JBoss installation, you can retrieve the latest version of the Workspace ES source code from the [installdir]/Adobe/LiveCycle82/LiveCycle_ES_SDK/misc/Process_Management/Workspace where [installdir] is the folder in which you installed LiveCycle ES.

At times, specifically with production systems, you may have applied patches for quick fixes or hot fixes to address specific problems on your system. These fixes may include an update to the Workspace ES source code, which is not updated in the LiveCycle ES SDK folder. Because you must use the latest version of the Workspace ES source code, it is recommended that you retrieve it from a patched system from the patches folder on your system.

From a patched LiveCycle ES server, you can retrieve the latest version of the Workspace ES source code from the [installdir]/Adobe/LiveCycle82/patch/[patch number] folder, where [installdir] is the folder you installed LiveCycle ES to and [patch number] is the number identifying the last patch that you installed on your server. You can identify the latest version of the Workspace ES source code by the timestamp.
