Point product dimmed when installing Creative Suite 4Products affected
Issue
When you install Adobe Creative Suite 4, one or more Creative Suite applications are dimmed in the installer.
You participated in one of the public prerelease programs for an Adobe Creative Suite 4 point product and still have the prerelease version of the product installed.
Solution 1: Uninstall the prerelease version for the Adobe Creative Suite point product.
Windows XP
- Choose Start > Control Panel.
- Double-click Add or Remove Programs.
- Select the Adobe Creative Suite 4 point product.
- Click Change/Remove.
- Follow the onscreen instructions.
Windows Vista
- Choose Start > Control Panel.
- Double-click Programs and Features.
- Select the Adobe Creative Suite 4 point product.
- Click Uninstall.
- Follow the onscreen instructions.
On Mac OS X
Do not remove the Adobe Creative Suite 4 product by dragging the application to the Trash. Use the uninstaller by following the directions below:
- To safely uninstall on Mac OS X, double-click the product installer in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers.
- Authenticate as an administrator.
- Select Uninstall Components and select the check box Remove Application Preferences.
- Follow the onscreen instructions to uninstall.
Solution 2: Run the CS5 Cleaner Tool
The Adobe CS5 Cleaner Tool can be run when an Adobe Creative Suite 3, 4, or 5 installation or removal fails. For more information, go to the Adobe CS5 Cleaner Tool download page.
Additional information
The installer recognizes installed prerelease versions of point products and disables the selection of those products. It's necessary to uninstall any prerelease products before installing the shipping version of Adobe Creative Suite 4 applications.
