Point product greyed out when installing the Adobe Creative Suite 4

Issue

When you install Adobe Creative Suite 4 the installer recognizes already installed pre-release versions of point products. The installer disables the selection of those products and therefore not all products will be installed when installing the complete Adobe Creative Suite 4.

Reason

You participated in one of the public pre-release programs for an Adobe Creative Suite 4 point product and still have the pre-release version of the point product installed.

Solution

Do one or more of the following:

Solution 1: Remove the installed Adobe Creative Suite 4 pre-release point product.

Uninstall the pre-release version for the Adobe Creative Suite point product, as you must uninstall any pre-relase products before installing the final shipping version of Adobe Creative Suite 4 applications.

• On Windows XP
• On Windows Vista
• On Mac OS X

On Windows XP

1. Choose Start > Control Panel.
2. Double-click Add or Remove Programs.
3. Select the Adobe Creative Suite 4 point product.
4. Click Change/Remove.
5. Follow the on screen instructions.

On Windows Vista

1. Choose Start > Control Panel.
2. Double-click Programs and Features.
3. Select the Adobe Creative Suite 4 point product.
4. Click Uninstall.
5. Follow the on screen instructions.

On Mac OS X

Do not remove the Adobe Creative Suite 4 product by dragging the application to the Trash. Use the uninstaller by following the directions below:

1. To safely uninstall on Mac OS X, double-click the product installer in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers.
2. Authenticate as an administrator
3. Select Uninstall Components and select the check box "Remove Application Preferences"
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall

Solution 2: Run the CS4Clean Script

The Adobe CS4Clean Script is designed to only be run in the event that a Adobe Creative Suite 4 installation or removal failed. For more information on removing an Adobe Creative Suite 4 point product manually, see "Run the CS4 Clean Script" (TechNote kb406241.)
