Order an Adobe product platform swap or language swap
You can swap the platform or language of a single-user product to a different platform or language of the same product. Swap if you've been using the product on a particular platform or language and then change your operating system or require a different language version.
Note: If you purchased the incorrect platform or language version of your product, return the product:
- If you purchased from Adobe, see Return or change Adobe orders | North America, Return, cancel, or change an Adobe order | Europe, the Middle East, Arica, Asia Pacific.
- If you purchased from a reseller, contact the reseller to arrange for a product exchange or return. The reseller can determine if you qualify for a return or exchange.
You can swap only current versions. If you have a previous version, you cannot swap to a different platform or language of the previous version--instead, it's necessary to upgrade. Place upgrade orders directly with Adobe Sales (see the Contact Adobe page for your region for information on how to contact Sales). Upgrade prices are applicable (if available for the product you are swapping), plus shipping costs.
Request a platform or language swap
To request a platform or language swap on the same (current) version of a product:
- Make sure that you have a registered serial number for the product you want to swap. If you haven't registered your product, visit the Adobe Product Registration page.
Note: If the product you want to swap is an upgrade version, you must register this version and all prior versions.
- Log in to the Support Portal using your Adobe ID (usually your email address):

- Germany: www.adobe.com/go/de_supportportal
- Japan: www.adobe.com/go/jp_supportportal
- Asia/Pacific: www.adobe.com/go/supportportal_ap
- Under Get Support, click Orders & Returns.
- From the Choose Issue Type menu, choose Product Exchange Or Swap.
- Click Proceed To Online Form.
- In the Submit A Request page, follow the onscreen instructions.
- Click Review Case & Submit.
You can expect a response within one to two business days. If you qualify for a platform or language swap, your order is shipped standard ground and should arrive in eight to ten business days.
Platform or language swap policies
- All product configurations, except for OEM bundles, are eligible for a platform or language swap.
- You pay only shipping costs if you already own the current version of the product you want to swap.
- You can also change your platform or language when you upgrade. Contact Customer Service to find out if you qualify for a platform or language upgrade.
- You must give up all licensing rights to your current platform or language version.
- You cannot swap from one platform or language of a previous version to another platform or language on that same previous version.
- After swapping platforms or languages, you cannot cross back to your original platform or language version.
- No more than five total (lifetime) cross-platform or cross-language upgrades or swaps are allowed per customer, regardless of the product.
- Products purchased second-hand or from an auction site such as eBay are not eligible for swaps.
- Electronic Software Delivery (ESD) is not available for swaps.
