Video does not play on YouTube after upload from Premiere Elements 4
Issue
After you upload a video to YouTube directly from Adobe Premiere Elements 4, YouTube lists the video's status as "Failed (unable to convert video file)" or "Failed (invalid file format)" in your account.
If you try to play the video on YouTube, the loading-video icon (an animated dotted circle) may remain on the screen indefinitely. Other videos on YouTube play as expected.
Solution
Export your Premiere Elements project as a QuickTime file and manually upload the QuickTime file to YouTube.
- Open your Premiere Elements project. Make sure its duration is less than 10 minutes.
- Click Share in the Tasks panel.
- Click Personal Computer.
- Select QuickTime in the list at the top.
- Choose Local Area Network (LAN) from the Presets menu.
- Specify a file name and a location for saving the file.
- Click Save, and wait for Premiere Elements to finish exporting the file.
- In a Web browser, go to www.youtube.com and log on to your YouTube account.
- Click Upload, and follow the on-screen instructions to upload the QuickTime (.mov) file that you saved in Step 7.
Optional: To delete the unplayable video that you had uploaded directly from Premiere Elements 4, do the following:
- In a Web browser, go to www.youtube.com and log on to your YouTube account.
- Choose Account > My Videos at the top of the YouTube page.
- Click Uploaded Videos in the navigation bar on the left-hand side of the page.
- Select the video.
- Click Delete.
- Click OK in the confirmation dialog box.
