Title

No Disk Error on Non DVD installation (Flex Builder 3)Products affected

Issue

When you launch Adobe Flex Builder 3 after installing the web version of Flex Builder 3, you receive a "No Disk" error message.

For example:

Windows XP/2000

Windows Vista

Reason

This error is related to Windows drive and folder access. There are multiple reasons why this may occur, including:

  • Removable media drive letter has changed.
  • Default project directory has been moved.
  • External USB drive has not be removed gracefully.
  • Windows Vista hotfix related.

Solution

Removable Media Drives

Try changing the drive letters for your removable media drives. This can be accomplished by using the Disk management options in the Admin Console's Computer Management plug-in. Make sure you have a memory card inside one drive letter you are changing. Sometimes disabling the removable memory drives can resolve this error.

Default Project Directory has Been Moved

If the default project (usually called Flex Builder 3) has been moved to another hard drive location after the install, this error can occur. Recreate the default directory in My Documents and, after Flex Builder 3 is started, you can change the default working directory through Flex Builder's properties.

External USB Drive has not Been Removed Gracefully

An external flash or USB hard drive was not removed gracefully through the Window's "Safely Remove Hardware" dialog and its presence remains. Reconnect the particular drive that is outstanding and stop the hardware correctly.
