Q. How do I enable the required SSL support for Linux

A. Acrobat.com uses SSL, which under Linux requires the â˜flashsupportâ library. These instructions describe how to build and install the flashsupport library.

These instructions have been tested with Ubuntu 7.04 and 8.04, and may require minor modifications for use with other versions of Linux.

Adobe Flash Player 9 Update 3 (Version 9,0,115,0) or later is required. If you have not already done so, please install this version before proceeding.

In order to successfully complete these instructions, you will need the administrator password. Enter it when prompted after the first sudo command.

  1. Ensure you have the latest versions of the automake, libssl-dev, and libicu-dev packages. For example, from the command line:
    • sudo apt-get install automake libssl-dev libicu36-dev
  2. Download the latest version of the flashsupport project from Sourceforge. For example, from the command line:
    • wget http://downloads.sourceforge.net/flashsupport/flashsupport-9.0.1.tgz?modtime=1189805203&big_mirror=0
  3. Extract the contents of the tar file. For example, from the command line:
    • tar xvf flashsupport-9.0.1.tgz
  4. Build the flashsupport library. For example, from the command line:
    • cd flashsupport
    • sh configure
    • make
  5. Install the flashsupport library. For example, from the command line:
    • sudo cp .libs/libflashsupport.so /usr/lib

If you have completed the above steps with no errors, then you should be able to visit Acrobat.com or Buzzword, sign in, insert images into documents, and upload files successfully.
