Valid serial number not saved on Mac OS X with non-admin rights (Flex Builder 3)
Issue
On aMac OS X system with non-administrator rights, Adobe Flex Builder can be installed correctly. However, if you enter a valid serial number, you may see a message indicating thet "Library/Application Support/Adobe/Flex directory could not be written." Restarting Flex Builder will prompt for the serial number again and the previously entered number is not saved.
Reason
Flex Builder 3 doesn't require administrator rights to install and run on Mac. However, it does require administrator rights to write the license.properties file, which resides in the Library/Application Support/Adobe/Flex directory.
Solution
To resolve this issue, do one of the following:
- Install Flex Builder and enter the serial number using an account that has administrator privileges.
- If you do not have access to an account with administrator privileges, then you can manually create the Library/Application Support/Adobe/Flex directory before installing Flex Builder.
