Workaround for ColdFusion Startup with System Startup on Solaris (ColdFusion 8 and 8.0.1)Products affected
Issue
Adobe ColdFusion 8 and 8.0.1 present an option during installation to have ColdFusion started during system startup. The Solaris console installation presents a screen similar to below:
The following options are available for installation.
An option marked with "[X]" in front will be installed and an option with "[ ]" will not. Choosing an option will toggle it on or off
[X] 1) ColdFusion 8 Documentation
[X] 2) Adobe LiveCycle Data Services ES
[X] 3) ColdFusion 8 Search Services
[X] 4) Start ColdFusion on system init
5) Continue with installation
However even with "Start ColdFusion on system init" selected the start and kill scripts are not properly installed.
Solution
The cf-init.sh script will properly install the missing startup and kill scripts so that ColdFusion (and Verity, if it is installed) will start upon system startup.
- Cd to coldfusion8/bin.
- Run "cf-init.sh install" as root, or with sudo, to properly install the startup and kill scripts.
- Run "cf-init.sh uninstall" as root, or with sudo, to remove the scripts.
