PDF files created in Microsoft Project 2007 cause silent crash in Acrobat 8 or Reader 8Products affected

Issue

When you scroll in a PDF file that was created in Microsoft Office Project 2007 either by using the PDFMaker add-on or by printing to the Adobe PDF printer, Adobe Acrobat 8 or Adobe Reader 8 crashes without displaying an error message.

Reason

This issue only happens if the PDF files are created with the option "Bars and shapes in Gantt views in 3-D" in Microsoft Project is checked.

Solution

Re-create the PDF file in Microsoft Project without 3D Gantt view.
  1. Start Microsoft Project 2007.
  2. Choose Tools > Options.
  3. Select the View tab.
  4. Uncheck the "Bars and shapes in Gantt view in 3-D" option.
  5. Click OK.

The graphs in your PDF file will be diplayed as they would appear in Microsoft Project 2003.
