Time Machine on Mac OS X Leopard causes SQLite database inconsistencies (Adobe AIR)

Issue


Running Time Machine backup or restore on Mac OS X with an Adobe AIR application may result in corrupted data in the SQLite database.

Solution


Apple resolved this issue with Mac OS X v10.5.2. Use Software Update to make sure you have the most recent version of Mac OS X.

Additional Information


If you use Time Machine with Mac OS X Leopard and you are unable toupdate, you can set Time Machine to exclude the Adobe AIR application from Time Machine backups:

  1. Select System Preferences.
  2. Select Time Machine.
  3. Click Options.
  4. Click the plus sign (+) to open the file browser.
  5. Browse to Users/[yourhomefolder]/Library/Preferences/Installed_AIR_ApplicationDirectory.
  6. Click Exclude.
  7. Click Done.

Time Machine will not create a backup of the Adobe AIR application and database when you follow these steps. A manual backup of the application database is recommended.
