Silent install instructions for Photoshop Elements 6 (AOO volume license version on Windows)

This document provides instructions to silently install Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 on Windows with an Adobe Open Options (AOO) volume license.

Silent Install instructions

1. Copy the Adobe Photoshop Elements folder from the Photoshop Elements 6 installation CD to your hard drive.
2. Edit the Setup.ini file:
   1. Open the Setup.ini file (in the folder copied in step 1) in Notepad.
   2. Add /qn to the end of the CommandLine0 line. The edited line should appear as below:

       CommandLine0=msiexec /i "Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0 (en_us).msi" /qn 

      Note: The language code (en_us) will vary for different countries and languages.

   3. Save the changes and close Notepad.

3. Create an "application.xml.override" file:
   1. Start Notepad.
   2. Start a new blank document and paste the following lines into it:

   3. Replace the zeros in the Serial Data key with your 24-digit AOO volume license serial number. Do not include dashes in the serial number.
   4. Choose File > Save.
   5. In the Encoding field, choose UTF-8.
   6. Name the file application.xml.override. Note that you must overwrite the .txt extension in the File Name field.
   7. Save the file in the Adobe Photoshop Elements folder copied in Step 1.
4. To start the installation, double-click on the Setup.exe file in the folder copied in Step 1.

Network Silent Install information

You can start the Photoshop Elements installer silently when the install files are on a network location, however a problem in the installer will prevent the serial number from being applied to the installed application. You can use one of the following workarounds to silently install and serialize Photoshop Elements:

• Silently install Photoshop Elements from a network location and manually enter the serial number:

1. To start the installation, open the Windows command line utility and enter the following line:
   Note: Replace <network path> with the path to the network location where the installation files are stored.
   

    msiexec /i "<network path>\Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0 (en_us).msi" /qn 

2. After the silent installation completes, start Photoshop Elements on each computer it was installed to and enter the serial number when prompted.

• Copy the installer files to each computer you want to install it to. Then use the silent install instructions as described in the section above.
  

Additional information

The EULADelay and Serial Data keys are required for every silent installation.

The Registration Data key is optional. If you use it, then the registration dialog will not appear when Photoshop Elements is started, and the Help > Registration option in both the Editor and Organizer will be grayed out.

The Updates Data key is optional. If you use it, then Photoshop Elements will not check for updates, and the Help > Updates option in both the Editor and Organizer will be grayed out.
