Creative Suite 3 application crashes during "Initializing palettes". (Windows)Products affected

Issue

When you attempt to start an AdobeCreative Suite 3 application, one or more of the following occurs:
  • The application crashes after the "Initializing palettes..." stage.
  • You receive the error message:"This application has encountered an error and needs to close."
  • The details section of the error dialog boxlists "Faulty module in adobeowl.dll."

Reason

A required font file is missing or unavailable to the system at the time of launch.

Solution

Ensure that the required fonts are installed.
  • On Windows XP,Creative Suite 3 requires the Tahoma font.
  • OnWindows Vista,Creative Suite 3requires the Segoe-UI font.

Note: If you use a third-party font manager utility (for example,Bitstream Font Navigator), then make sure that the required fonts are active.
