Computer hangs after printing to Adobe PDF Printer (Acrobat 7 on Intel-based Mac OS X)

Issue

When you print to the Adobe PDF 7.0 printer, your computer hangs.

Detail

You installed the QuickTime 7.1 update.

Solution: Restart in Safe Boot mode, get the latest QuickTime 7.1.1 update, and then restart in normal mode.

1. Restart the Macintosh and hold down the left Shift key immediately after you hear the chimes.

2. Release the Shift key when the Apple logo appears. When the Macintosh is in Safe Boot mode, the words Safe Boot appear on the logo.

3. From the Apple menu select Software Updates.

4. Select the QuickTime 7.1.1 update and click Install. You can also download and install it from the Apple website at www.apple.com/quicktime/download/mac.html .

5. Restart your computer in normal mode.

Background information

The QuickTime 7.1 update causes the computer to freeze when you use the Adobe PDF Printer; the QuickTime 7.1.1 update resolves the issue.
