Manually reset preferences and settings in Adobe Bridge

Adobe Bridge allows you to reset the following preferences and settings:

  • Reset Preferences
  • Purge Entire Thumbnail Cache
  • Reset to Default Workspace

You can reset these settings by holding down Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows) or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS) immediately after you start the application. If you do this but are unable to get the Reset Settings dialog box to appear, then follow the steps below to reset the settings manually.

On Mac OS:

To manually reset preferences, purge the entire thumbnail cache and reset your default workspace:

For BridgeCS2:

  1. Delete the Thumbnails folders located in the Users/ [user] /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Bridge/Cache folder.
  2. Delete the "!!Last.workspace" file located in the Users/ [user] /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Bridge/Workspaces folder.
  3. Delete the com.adobe.bridge.plist file located in the Users/ [user] /Library/Preferences folder.

For Bridge CS3 and later:

  1. Delete the entire directory from the Cache folder located in the Users/ [user] /Library/Caches/Adobe/Bridge CS[#] folder.
  2. Delete the "!!Last.workspace" file located in the Users/ [user] /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Bridge CS[#] /Workspaces folder.
  3. Delete the com.adobe.bridge[#].plist file located in the Users/ [user] /Library/Preferences folder.
On Windows:

Note: If you are unable to find the Application Data folder, enable Windows to show hidden files and folders. For instructions, see the documentation included with Windows.

For Bridge CS2:

  1. Delete the Thumbnails folder located at C:\Documents and Settings\ [user] \Application Data\Adobe\Bridge\Cache.
  2. Delete the "!!Last.workspace" file located at C:\Documents and Settings\ [user] \Application Data\Adobe\Bridge\Workspaces.
    Note: If you are unable to find the Application Data folder, enable Windows to show hidden files and folders. For instructions, see the documentation included with Windows.
  3. Delete the following registry key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Bridge\Preferences

For Bridge CS3 and later:

  1. Delete the entire contents of the Cache folder located at C:\Documents and Settings\ [user] \Application Data\Adobe\Bridge CS[#] .
  2. Delete the "!!Last.workspace" file located at C:\Documents and Settings\ [user] \Application Data\Adobe\Bridge CS[#] \Workspaces.
  3. Delete the following registry key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Bridge CS[#] \Preference
