Export To Tape results in black video with audio (Premiere Pro 2.0)

Issue

When you choose Export To Tape in Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0, the resulting tape has audio with no video or with black video.

Details

Your External Device setting under Playback Settings is set to None.

Solution: Adjust your playback setting.

Change your External Device setting to one that matches the type of device to which you are exporting (for example, for a standard NTSC DV deck, choose "DV 29.97i (720x480)").

To change your External Device setting:

1. Select Project > Project Settings > General.

2. Click Playback Settings.

3. Choose an External Device Setting from the drop down list.

Background information

The External Device setting allows you to select the type of device to which you export your video.
