Acrobat and Adobe Reader 7.0.3 updates do not update all menu items for Restricted Users (on Windows)
Issue
After you install the Acrobat or Adobe Reader 7.0.3 update, certain menus and screens still display 7.0.2or earlier as the version identifier. You may want to confirm that the 7.0.3 update was successful.
Detail
When you log in to Windows as a Restricted User and open Acrobat or Adobe Reader, 7.0.2 still appears as the version identifier on the splash screen and on the Help menu after you have installed the 7.0.3 update.
Solutions
Do one of the following solutions:
Solution 1: Install the Acrobat 7.0.5 update or the Adobe Reader 7.0.5 update.
In Acrobat or Adobe Reader, choose Help > Check For Updates Now to install the update.
Alternately, you can download the update from the Adobe website:
-- For Adobe Reader or Acrobat 7.x: Download the 7.0.5 update from the Adobe website at www.adobe.com/support/downloads/ .
-- For Adobe Reader 6.x or earlier: Download the full installation of the latest version of Adobe Reader from the Adobe website at www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html .
Solution 2: Check the version of the AcroForm.api to ensure the update did install properly.
To check the version of AcroForm.api, do the following:
For Acrobat:
1. Open the Adobe Acrobat 7.0 plug-ins folder at Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat 7.0\Acrobat\Plug_ins.
2. Right-click on the latest Acroform.api file and select Properties.
3. Click the Version tab in the Properties dialog box. If the 7.0.3 update was successful, then the File Version is 7.0.3.163.
For Adobe Reader:
1. Open the Adobe Acrobat 7.0 plug-ins folder at Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat 7.0\Reader\Plug_ins.
2. Right-click on the latest Acroform.api file and select Properties.
3. Click the Version tab in the Properties dialog box. If the 7.0.3 update was successful, then the File Version is 7.0.3.163.
Background information
The Acrobat and Adobe Reader 7.0.3 update alters the Acroform.api file but does not update the version number in Acrobat.exe or Acrord32.exe. The update is still successful although 7.0.2appears on the splash screen and Help menu. The 7.0.5 update provides a fix for this issue.
