Supported file formats in After Effects (7.x)
The table below lists the formats that can be imported and exported by Adobe After Effects. Third-party plug-ins are available to extend After Effects import and export capabilities. Adobe After Effects Professional supports 16 bits-per-channel (bpc) color inthe following file formats only: 10 bpc uncompressed YUV AVI files created in Adobe Premiere Pro, Cineon, IFF, Maya IFF, PBM, PNG, Adobe Photoshop, RLA/RPF, SGI,PNG, and QuickTime. Adobe After Effects Standard imports 32 bpc files as 8 bpc files.
Adobe After Effects Professional supports 32 bits-per-channel (bpc) color inthe following file formats only:Cineon, IFF, OpenEXR, PBM, Adobe Photoshop, Radiance (HDR, RGBE, XYZE), RLA/RPF, SGI,PNG and QuickTime. The Adobe After Effects Standard version imports 16 bpc files as 8 bpc files.
Where support for a particular format is provided by After Effects as well as another program (for example, QuickTime movie format support is provided by both After Effects and QuickTime), the After Effects import plug-in is used.
