Console generates "Invalid color" message repeatedly when you run Acrobat (7.x on Mac OS X v10.4)

Issue

When you start Adobe Acrobat, the Console utility repeatedly generates the message, "Invalid color: colored pattern specified with uncolored pattern colorspace."

Solution: Manually remove the "Invalid color..." entries from the Console.log file.

1. Select the Console.log file, located in /Library/Logs/Console/501.

2. Choose File > Get Info.

3. From the Open With menu, choose Other.

4. Select TextEdit and then click Add.

5. Close the Info window.

6. Double-click the Console.log file.

7. To locate the invalid color entry, choose Edit > Find, type invalidcolor in the Find box, and then click Next.

8When you locate the first "Invalid color..." message, select the entire entry and then press the Delete key.

9. Repeat step 7 to delete all "Invalid color..." entries in the log file.

10. Choose File > Save, and then close the file.

Background information

An incompatibility between Acrobat 7.x and Mac OS X v10.4 causes the Console utility to generate multiple iterations of this message in the Console.log file every time Acrobat is the active application.

By clearing all "Invalid color..." entries from Console.log, you reduce the size of the log file, preventing potential system issues that a large log file may cause.
