No tracks appear or audio data is missing when you rip CD audio (Adobe Audition)

Issue

When you try to transfer (that is, rip) CD audio in Adobe Audition either by using the Extract From CD command or by choosing File > Open > *.CDA File, no tracks appear or audio data is missing from the file.

Solutions

Do one of the following solutions:

Solution 1: If you use Windows XP or 2000, configure Adobe Audition to use SPTI rather than ASPI.

1. Choose Options > Settings in Audition, and then click the System tab.

2. Select SPTI under CD Device Options, and then click OK.

3. Try to transfer the audio. If the problem still occurs, revert the CD Device Options setting to ASPI, and proceed to Solution 2.

Solution 2: Install the Adobe Audition ASPI Driver Patch.

Download and install the Adobe Audition ASPI Driver Patch available from the Adobe website at www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=2517 . Be sure to follow the installation instructions as provided.

Solution 3: Install Audition 1.5 or 2.0

Audition 1.5 and later do not use ASPI for extracting CD content; they use SPTI by default. You can purchase Adobe Audition from the Adobe website at http://store.adobe.com/store/products/master.jhtml?navAction=jump&id=catAudition .

Background information

When Adobe Audition is configured to use ASPI (Advanced SCSI Programming Interface), it uses ASPI drivers and DLL files to communicate with the CD drive. If the ASPI driver is outdated, isn't installed correctly, or is damaged, Adobe Audition returns an error when you try to rip CD audio.
