Retaining Custom Page Sizes in Files Converted to PDF Using Create Adobe PDF Online

When you convert a file with a custom page size, Create Adobe PDF Online may not retain the custom page size. To ensure that a custom page size is retained, print the source file to a PostScript file with a custom page size, and then submit the PostScript file to Create Adobe PDF Online.

Creating a PostScript File with a Custom Page Size

Before creating a PostScript file, set up a virtual printer that uses the Acrobat Distiller PPD file. For instructions, see document 328620 , Creating a PostScript File in Windows for Submission to Create Adobe PDF Online."

To create a PostScript file with a custom page size:

-- In Windows XP, 2000, or NT:

1. Choose Start > Printers and Faxes (Windows XP) or choose Start > Settings > Printers (Windows 2000 and NT).

2. In the Printers dialog box, select a PostScript printer (for example, Create Adobe PDF).

3. Choose File > Server Properties.

4. Click Create a New Form. In the Form Name text box (Windows XP) or Form Description For text box (Windows 2000 or NT), enter a name for the custom page size.

5. Enter the desired values in the Width and Height text boxes.

6. Click Save Form, and then click OK (Windows 2000 or NT) or Close (Windows XP).

7. Print the file to PostScript:

a. In the source application, choose File > Print.

b. Choose Create Adobe PDF from the Printer pop-up menu.

c. Select Print to File, and then click OK.

d. In the Save As dialog box, choose a location for the PDF file from the Save In pop-up menu.

e. Enter a name for the PDF file, and then click Save.

-- In Windows 98:

1. Choose Start > Settings > Printers.

2. Right-click a PostScript Printer (for example, Create Adobe PDF), and choose Properties from the pop-up menu.

3. Click the Paper tab, select Custom Paper, and then click Custom.

4. In the Custom-Defined Size dialog box, enter a name for the custom paper size in the Paper Name text box.

5. Enter the desired values in the Width and Length text boxes, and then click OK.

6. Select the new custom page size in the scroll box at the top of the Paper tab, and then click OK.

7. Print the file to PostScript:

a. In the source application, choose File > Print.

b. Choose Create Adobe PDF from the Printer pop-up menu.

c. Select Print to File, and then click OK.

d. In the Save As dialog box, choose a location for the PDF file from the Save In pop-up menu.

e. Enter a name for the PDF file, and then click Save.
