Error "... libagli18n28.dll was not found" when you start (Bridge CS2)
Issue
Adobe Bridge returns an error when you try to start it, "The application could not be started, because the libagli18n28.dll was not found. Reinstalling could remove the problem."
Solutions
Do one or more of the following solutions:
Solution 1: Edit the file permissions and then run the common files installer.
Run the CACLS commands to edit the file permissions. Then, run the common files installer to complete the Bridge installation.
Note: This solution works only with NTFS-formatted hard disks.
1. Choose Start > Run.
2. Type cmd in the Out box, and click OK.
3. Type the appropriate CACLS commands for your operating system exactly as they appear and press Enter after each command line:
Important:Make sure to enter a space before and after "/T", "/E", "/C", and "/G" in each command.
In Windows XP:
cacls c:\windows\installer /T /E /C /G administrators:F
cacls "c:\documents and settings\all users" /T /E /C /G administrators:F
In Windows 2000:
cacls c:\WINNT\installer /T /E /C /G administrators:F
cacls "c:\documents and settings\all users" /T /E /C /G administrators:F
4. Insert the application installation media. (If you're installing Adobe Creative Suite, insert the Installer 1 CD.)
5. Select a language and click OK.
6. Click Accept to accept the license agreement.
7. Select Explore CD Contents.
8. Navigate to, and then double-click, the Adobe Common File Installer.msi file in the following location:
-- For Adobe Creative Suite 2.0: Adobe Creative Suite 2.0/Adobe Bridge Services folder
-- For individual Adobe CS2 applications: Adobe [application] CS2/Commonfilesinstaller folder
9.Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. If the Program Maintenance dialog box appears, click Repair.
Solution 2: Reinstall the updater and edit the file permissions again.
If you see the error message after you update to Bridge 1.0.3, edit the file permissions, and run the common files installer as described in Solution 1, then reinstall the Bridge 1.0.3 updater and edit the file permissions again following steps 1-3 of Solution 1.
Background information
Your file permissions may prevent the Adobe Common Files installer from correctly installing Bridge when you run Adobe application installers. If this occurs, Bridge will return this error when you try to start it.
The CACLS command lets you view and modify file permissions on NTFS-formatted hard disks.
