24P and 24PA footage strobes during playback in Premiere Pro 1.5
Issue
24P and 24PA footage imported into AdobePremiere Pro 1.5 appears to strobe and flicker in overexposed areas of the footage.
Solutions
Do one of the following solutions:
Solution 1: Upgrade to Premiere Pro 2.0.
-- To purchase an upgrade from Adobe, visit the Adobe Store athttp://store.adobe.com/store/ , clickVideo and Audio, and choose Adobe Premiere Pro.
-- To locate an authorized reseller, visit the Adobe website at http://partners.adobe.com/resellerfinder/na/reseller.jsp .
Solution 2: Use the Color Corrector effect to reduce luma values.
1. Apply the Color Corrector effect to the clip.
2. View the Color Corrector properties in the Effects Control window.
3. Select the Enable Limiter feature for the effect located within the Video Limiter controls.
4. Reduce the Luma Max value until the strobing disappears or becomes unnoticeable.
Background information
Premiere Pro 1.5 automatically detects and removes pulldown during the capture or import of 24P and 24PA footage. Premiere Pro 1.5 must then synthesize frames at regular intervals to enable playback of these clips at 29.97 fps. The synthesized frame is clamped by the DV codec to a broadcast legal value of 100 IRE. When you use the Color Corrector effect to clamp all luma values to similar levels, the strobing and flickering problem can be minimized or eliminated.
This issue is corrected in Premiere Pro 2.0.
