Recommended printer drivers for creating PDF files from FrameMaker (Mac OS)

Adobe Technical Support recommends the following PostScript printer drivers and PostScript Printer Description (PPD) files for optimal results in converting FrameMaker documents to Adobe PDF in Mac OS. Using a different printer driver or PPD file may cause unexpected results such as missing text. (For help using AdobePS in Windows, see document 326236 , "Setting up AdobePS to create PDF files from FrameMaker (6.0 on Windows)."

You can download printer drivers from the Adobe website at www.adobe.com/support/downloads/main.html . A Help file with instructions for installing the printer driver with a PPD file is included.

Note: Results with Acrobat Distiller 5.0 may vary. Adobe verified Acrobat Distiller 4.0x for use with FrameMaker 6.0 and Acrobat 3.x for use with FrameMaker 5.5.x.

If the recommended printer driver is a version of AdobePS earlier than the one installed on your computer, remove AdobePS from the computer before installing the earlier version.

To remove AdobePS from the computer:

1. Open the System Folder: Extensions folder.

2. Drag the AdobePS Chooser extension to the Trash.

3. Empty the Trash.

If the recommended printer driver does not appear in the Printer Drivers section of the Downloads area on the Adobe website, you can obtain the driver from the Adobe FTP site.
