Buttons and links don't work in Web Photo Gallery (Photoshop CS, Photoshop Elements on Windows XP)
Issue
When you preview a Web Photo Gallery in Microsoft Internet Explorer on Windows XP, buttons and links in the gallery don't work and the Information Bar in Internet Explorer includes the message, "To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this file from showing active content that could access your computer."
Detail
Windows XP Service Pack Service Pack 2 (SP2) is installed.
Solutions
Do one of the following solutions:
Solution 1: Allow active content in Internet Explorer.
Each time you preview a Web Photo Gallery file, select the option in Internet Explorer that allows blocked (active) content to display.
1. Click the Information Bar in Internet Explorer and choose Allow Blocked Content from the pop-up menu.
2. Click Yes in the Security Warning dialog box.
Solution 2: Preview the Web Photo Gallery in a different web browser.
Try using a different web browser, such asFirefox, Netscape, or Opera.
Solution 3: Edit each of the HTML files for the Web Photo Gallery.
Because Internet Explorer allows active content in downloaded HTML files, you can bypass the security feature by adding a line of text to the HTML file that identifies the file as a download to Internet Explorer.
1. Open an HTML file from the gallery in a text editor (for example, Notepad).
2. Type the following text at the beginning of the page:
<!-- saved from url=(0022)http://www.domain.com/ -->
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for every HTML file in the gallery.
Solution 4: Enable the option in Internet Explorer that lets you view active content.
This option is available only if SP2 is installed.
Note: This solution may reduce the safety of your computer by allowing potentially malicious active content to run in Internet Explorer.
1. In Internet Explorer, choose Tools > Internet Options.
2. Click the Advanced tab.
3. In the Security section, select Allow Active Content To Run In Files On My Computer, and then click OK.
Background information
SP2 protects your computer by preventing files on the local hard drive from running potentially malicious active content in Internet Explorer. Some Web Photo Galleries (for example, Horizontal Slideshow, Baby Boy, or Centered Frame 1 - Feedback) require JavaScript to display photos in Internet Explorer.
If SP2 is installed, Internet Explorer allows active content only in downloaded HTML files. Internet Explorer adds text to downloaded HTML files. The text references the location from where the file was downloaded.
