Error "Zip file is damaged..." when you double-click downloaded file from the Adobe website or FTP site

Issue

When you double-click a file you downloaded from the Adobe website or FTP site, one of the following error messages appears:

-- "WinZip Self-Extractor Zip file is damaged, truncated, or has been changed since it was created. If you downloaded this file, try downloading again."

-- "WinZip Self-Extractor header corrupt. Possible cause: bad disk or file transfer error."

Solutions

Delete the damaged file, then do one or both of the following:

Note: If, after working through all the solutions, you're still unable to download a file from the Adobe website or FTP site, do one or both of the following:

-- See other downloading help documents on the Adobe website at www.adobe.com/support/downloads/help.html .

-- Report the problem to Adobe. For more information, see document 322957 , "How to Report a Download Problem."

Solution 1: Run the Windows ScanDisk utility.

Run the Windows ScanDisk utility to ensure that your computer is free of disk-related problems:

1. Double-click the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop.

2. Right-click on the C: drive, then choose Properties from the pop-up menu.

3. Click the Tools tab.

4. Click Check Now.

5. Select all the hard disks.

6. Choose A to perform a Thorough test.

7. Check Automatically Fix Errors.

8. Click Start. This operation may take some time to complete. The length of time varies according to the size of your hard disks. When the ScanDisk operation is complete, redownload the file from the Adobe Web site or FTP site.

Solution 2: Make sure your Internet connection is stable.

Background information

When a file you downloaded from the Adobe website or FTP site reports one of the error messages described above, your computer has disk-related problems or your Internet connection is unstable.
